why shouldnt this woman be asked to remove her hat ? everyone else has to.if security is the reason then the request should be accepted as a safety issue.if someone calls at your home etc they will respect your wishes.doormen dont pick on old ladies.some elderly people think themselves beyond the law and it seems this is the case.the younger generation adhere to the rule so why shouldnt she have to.if people want respect then they should earn it and not command to be treat different because of their age.think a big boo hoo been made cos she is old .

Hi Andy – i used to live in Earls Barton but now live in Auckand New Zealand. Great to see the photo’s – brought back a few memories of playing in the snow as a kid in Earls Barton with my mates in the school playing field. Used to go to Earls Barton Primary and then John Lea. Happy memories!

Eighteen month’s earlier, Jack Cartwright was sat in the office of McIntyre Engineering wondering why he considered being a draughtsman in the first place. Aged twenty-one, Jack had left his local grammar school full of so much enthusiasm. A scholarship boy, it was his parents proudest moment to see him attend there, but now he resented them for the path his path had taken: designing valves for boilers on distant locomotive engines.

This is how he found himself, one day, stood in front of a dour, brown-bricked office off The Strand. He went in a free man, he came out with the King’s Shilling in his pocket. It was 1913 and little did Jack known that his life was about to change forever.
